Late 19th Century Anatomical Plaster Model, by Bock Steger
Franz Josef Steger collaborated with pathological anatomist Carl Ernst Bock at the University of Leipzig, Germany to create teaching models for study purposes. Formed from either plaster, porcelain or wax, these models were sold in the mid 1800’s in specialist scientific stores throughout Germany, and via catalogues internationally.
Steger models are of particular historical interest because of their significant role and contribution for the teaching of anatomical study from the late 19th Century to the present day.
These models also have an artistic value, given the attention to fine detail. A true work of art in itself.
